Yes - a current City & Guilds 2382-26 (18th Edition, BS 7671:2018+A4:2026) certificate is required before you can enrol on any 2391 course. Inspection and testing builds directly on Wiring Regulations knowledge. If you do not hold 18th Edition, choose the full online route (£99) or the classroom course (£489, 3 days). Existing holders who only need Amendment 4 can use the £49 refresher.
The £200 online option is study materials only. The classroom 2391-52 is the in-centre qualification route at Cheshunt, with the formal assessment route arranged through the centre.
The online materials cover all four EICR condition codes in depth: C1 (Danger present - immediate action required), C2 (Potentially dangerous - urgent remedial action), C3 (Improvement recommended - not dangerous but recommended upgrade), and FI (Further investigation required). Correct coding is the single most-disputed part of inspection work and a major focus of the syllabus.
The £200 study materials alone do not award a qualification or certificate. You must successfully complete the required theory and practical examinations to receive the City & Guilds 2391-52 certificate, alongside meeting any wider competence, registration and scheme requirements that apply to the work you undertake.
Use self-paced online materials to revise the theory. Exam fees, registration, certificate and practical assessment are arranged separately.
