No. Our beginner pathway is designed for complete career changers with zero electrical experience. We start from the fundamentals and build up.
Level 2 covers the foundations — domestic wiring, electrical science, and safety. Level 3 is the advanced qualification covering design, complex installations, inspection & testing, and certification.
The full pathway from complete beginner to Gold Card typically takes 12–18 months. The NVQ element alone takes 6–18 months depending on your pace, with assessor site visits at your workplace included within 15 miles of our centre. Fast-track options are available for experienced workers.
Yes — both are required for Gold Card (JIB/ECS) registration. The NVQ proves on-site competence, and the AM2 is the final practical assessment. We provide AM2 preparation support, but the assessment itself must be booked separately through an external provider (e.g. JTL, NET, or BPEC).
