Brilliant course. Studied in the evenings after work and completed my Level 3 in 9 months. The practicals were well organised.
Left the office, joined the trade. Seven weeks in Cheshunt, first paid job the following Monday.
LTS sequenced the Level 2 and NVQ around my work so I never lost a week of income.

Yes - you must have completed the City & Guilds Level 2 2365 Diploma (or an equivalent qualification such as BTEC Level 2 Electrical Installation or NVQ Level 2) before enrolling on Level 3. This is a mandatory prerequisite because Level 3 builds directly on Level 2 electrical science and installation fundamentals.
Most learners complete in 6-12 months of part-time evening/weekend study. The online theory portion takes around 120-180 hours of focused work; the practical days add 5-8 days at our Cheshunt centre. Portal access is available for 18 months from enrolment, with no penalty for slower paces.
No - it is a hybrid format. Advanced theory modules (electrical science, installation design, fault diagnosis, BS 7671 compliance) are studied online at your own pace. Practical assessments and final exams must be conducted in person at our Cheshunt centre. The certificate awarded is identical to the classroom Level 3 - same City & Guilds 2365 qualification.
Same City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 certificate. The in-centre Level 3 (£3,179, 7 weeks full-time / 14 weeks part-time) gives you live tutor support, classroom Q&A, and a fixed schedule that pushes you through the qualification in a defined window. The online Level 3 (£1,839, self-paced) gives you flexibility around current employment - best for learners who need to keep working as they qualify. Both lead to the same NVQ + AM2 + Gold Card pathway.
Online theory exams (Fundamental Principles, Fault Diagnosis, Electrical Installations, Electrical Systems Design - Unit 305/625) plus a written assignment and practical assessments (Fault Diagnosis practical, Electrical Installations practical, Systems Design project, Career Awareness). Theory exams are sat online; practicals are in-centre at Cheshunt. Pass marks range 50-70% depending on unit. The Systems Design exam permits use of the IET On-Site Guide.
Level 3 2365 commonly supports progression to an appropriate work-based NVQ, but the correct route depends on your experience, employment and prior qualifications. The 2346 Experienced Worker route has its own experience requirements, while other learners may follow a different NVQ route. Speak to an advisor before enrolling so the sequence is confirmed. An NVQ is assessed through workplace evidence and is followed by the relevant AM2/AM2S assessment before a Gold Card application.
