Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the full-time Gold Card route.

The JIB/ECS Gold Card is the UK industry standard proving you are a fully qualified Installation Electrician (graded as such by the Joint Industry Board). It is required for most construction sites, commercial contracts, and main-contractor pre-qualification. To qualify you need Level 3 2365 (or equivalent), 18th Edition, City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing, AM2 (or AM2E/AM2S), plus NVQ Level 3 portfolio evidence — every step is included in this Gold Card Package.

You receive City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma 2365, City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma 2365, 18th Edition (BS 7671:2018+A4:2026), City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing, and full NVQ Level 3 (2346) portfolio support with an assigned assessor. Full-time enrolment also includes the EAL Approved Basic Electrical Skills course (worth £899) at no extra cost.

The full-time classroom phase is 15 weeks at our Cheshunt centre, Monday-Friday 8:30-16:30. After classroom training you complete the NVQ Level 3 portfolio in your workplace — most learners finish portfolio evidence in 9 to 12 months alongside paid electrical work, then sit AM2/AM2S to apply for the Gold Card.
