ECS currently requires a JIB-recognised Level 3 apprenticeship or competency-based qualification, a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment and recognised BS 7671:2018 evidence for its Installation Electrician Gold Card. The exact qualification and gateway depend on the applicant route. ECS and the JIB determine card eligibility; buying or completing this package does not guarantee a card.
The listed package components are City & Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 2365 technical diplomas, BS 7671 training, Part P Building Regulations, City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing and workplace-assessment support. Full-time enrolment also includes the EAL Basic Electrical Skills course. The exact Level 3 competency qualification, awarding organisation, gateway and assessment plan must be confirmed during the eligibility review rather than inferred from the package name.
The classroom phase is 15 weeks full-time or 30 weeks part-time at our Cheshunt centre. The mapped workplace evidence period is expected to take around 12 months where RPL can be applied, with a maximum completion window of 2 years. Timing depends on the qualification, suitable work and accepted evidence. The correct external AM2-family assessment can only be taken after its route-specific gateway requirements are met.
No prior electrical qualification is required for the classroom components. You must be 16 or over. Before a workplace competency route is registered, LTS must review your existing evidence, intended occupation and access to suitable supervised electrical installation work. The evidence period is expected to take around 12 months where RPL can be applied, with a maximum completion window of 2 years.
Bring your certificates and evidence to a free route assessment. We will verify what you already hold, identify the remaining Gold Card requirements, and quote the individual courses or assessment support you still need. You will not be asked to repeat verified training simply to follow the full package timetable.
