Course Overview

Our City & Guilds Level 3 Triple Award Package is a comprehensive training programme designed for qualified electricians who want to become specialists in renewable energy and smart electrical technologies.

This course bundle combines three industry-recognised City & Guilds qualifications — covering Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems, Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS), and Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Installations. Learners gain full, end-to-end capability to design, install, test, and commission modern low-carbon systems that integrate renewable generation, battery storage, and EV infrastructure.

Training aligns fully with the latest IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2022 Amd.3:2024) and Codes of Practice for PV, EESS, and EV Charging.

Note: This course is not suitable for beginners or those without recognised electrical qualifications.

Course Content:

This course provides the knowledge and practical understanding to design, install, and maintain domestic and small commercial EV charging systems safely and effectively.

Learners will cover:

Current legislation, documentation, and IET Codes of Practice
EV charger types, charging modes, and connection arrangements
Circuit design, protection, and earthing methods
Safe installation, testing, and commissioning procedures
Client handover, documentation, and system maintenance
Smart charging and vehicle-to-grid (V2G/V2H) integration

By completion, learners will be fully equipped to install EV charging systems to City & Guilds and ECS CPD standards, meeting current IET and DNO requirements

This course provides an in-depth introduction to solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, covering design principles, installation best practices, testing, commissioning, and maintenance.

Learners will explore:

Solar PV system components and architectures.
DC/AC design and safety procedures.
Inverter configuration and fault diagnosis.
Grid connection and export limitation (G98/G99/G100).

Integration with energy storage systems (EESS) and EV charging.

This course covers the essential knowledge and practical skills required to design, install, test, and commission small electrical energy storage systems in line with current industry standards.

Learners will cover:

Key documentation, legislation, and non-statutory guidance (EAW, HASAWA, MCS).
Safe working practices and isolation procedures for EESS installations.
System design, architecture, and selection of components and batteries.
Installation considerations, system testing, and commissioning procedures.
Maintenance, handover documentation, and client operation guidance.
Integration of energy storage with solar PV, EV charging, and grid export limitation (G100).

By the end, learners will be able to design and install EESS systems safely and effectively, meeting City & Guilds and ECS CPD standards

ECS Gold Card holders (Installation, Maintenance, or Domestic Electrician).
Electrical professionals aiming to deliver smart energy systems including PV, battery, and EV.

Entry Requirements:
Learners must hold a Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2357, 2346, 2347, or 5357) or demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of BS 7671:2022 (Amd.3:2024).
